Mario Kart 8 Getting Zelda/Animal Crossing Themed DLC

Nintendo have officially revealed two upcoming DLC packs for Mario Kart 8 on Wii U – one inspired by the Zelda universe, and the other based upon Animal Crossing. The former, titled “The Legend of Zelda X Mario Kart 8” includes 3 characters; Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach and Link, 4 vehicles including the Blue Falcon kart representing the F-Zero franchise and 8 course packs including Wario’s Gold Mine from Mario Kart Wii,as well as the world of The Legend of Zelda. The second, “Animal Crossing X Mario Kart 8”, features a similar number of characters, vehicles and locations.

Nintendo also revealed that you can pre-order the DLC now, and doing so not only gives you the packs at a significant discount – £11 combined instead of £7 each (UK pricing) – doing so unlocks different coloured Yoshi and Shy Guy skins for use right now.

The first pack is scheduled to release in November 2014, with the second arriving in May 2015. A selection of the official images, which can be found on the Nintendo Store website, are below
