New 3DS Models Announced By Nintendo

In a special Japanese Nintendo Direct today, Nintendo revealed the latest iteration of their ever popular handheld gaming system scheduled for release this October in Japan, and “2015” in other territories. Dubbed “New 3DS” and “New 3DS LL”, the new systems will feature a new CPU with improved performance over the current models. This also means that the system will be able to play games the current models cannot. The just announced Xenoblade Chronicles for 3DS, for example, will only be playable on the new system. Other features include a built in second analog nub, additional triggers and a built in NFC. The revealed colours show the white model in the style of the old NES controllers. The NFC is located under the bottom screen No concrete details exist for an EU release as yet, but the system will go on sale in Japan on October 11th.
