Apple Confirms It Will Stream Live iPad Event on October 16th

Today Apple has confirmed it will stream its iPad event on October 16th, giving eager spectators the chance to watch the tech giant unveil its latest gadgets as it happens. Visitors to Apple’s live site will see a holding page for the stream, with the text: “Join us here at apple.com/live on October 16 at 10am PT to watch our special event live.”

The rumour mill is buzzing around the possibility of a new 12.9 inch iPad Air, but the Wall Street Journal — which has a good track record with Apple leaks — has published a story about the larger iPad Air being delayed. Apple’s suppliers are so busy with the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus that they just don’t have time to mass-produce a larger iPad Air. Presumably with October 16 just a few days away, this means we’ll probably see a 9.7-inch iPad Air 2 at the event — and then perhaps an iPad Air Plus/Maxi later in 2015.

The event is also expected to see the arrival of new Macs, with discussion of Mac OS X Yosemite also in the cards.
