PSA: GTA V Beta Invites Are A Phishing Scam, Warns Rockstar

Rockstar Games has no current plans to hold a beta for the new-gen or PC releases of Grand Theft Auto V, the developer says.

According to a warning on the Rockstar site:

“IF YOU SEE ADS OR SOLICITATIONS TO JOIN A BETA PROGRAM, BEWARE AS THIS IS LIKELY SOME TYPE OF ONLINE PHISHING SCAM”

For anyone who doesn’t know, phishing is when scammers pretend to be from an official source in order to get victims to divulge personal information (including login details) or to infect their computers with malware. It’s very important that, if you receive an invite, you don’t click on any links within it.

The warning goes on to suggest fans keep an eye on the Rockstar Newswire for official news on the game.
