HTC’s RE Camera Preview
That funky looking little device below is the RE Camera from HTC. In a departure from their regular quality smartphones, HTC’s RE builds on their reputation for supplying decent cameras in those smartphones.
The RE is a small, handheld photo and video camera with no viewfinder. Its ergonomic design means it sits neatly and comfortably in your hand. The one-button operation (tap for a photo, press to film) is easy-to-use, being well sited for thumb or finger use depending on which way the camera is facing.
Featuring a 16 mega-pixel sensor, a 146 degree wide-angle lens with a decent f2.8 aperture for low-light photography, 30 FPS, 1080p full HD video and 720p 4x slow motion, the RE has decent specs. Add in Android (4.3 and upwards) and iOS compatibility, the ability to take time-lapse recordings controlled by the smartphone app and a grip sensor that turns the camera on when it’s picked up and off when it’s put down, and the RE looks like an exciting little device for the lifestyle market.
The RE will be available from vodafone Ireland next week and will be priced at €169.
We’re looking forward to getting our hands on a test RE soon and will report back to when we do.
