Drew Karpyshyn Has Returned To BioWare, Not Working On Mass Effect

Great news for fans of BioWare, Drew Karpyshyn, the acclaimed lead writer of the first Mass Effect game and co-lead writer of the second, has returned to the developer to work on Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO.

As well as writing on the Mass Effect games when he was last at BioWare, Karpyshyn penned a trio of novels based in the universe. Previous to that, he worked on games such as Baldur’s Gate II, Neverwinter Nights, Jade Empire and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

He has just finished work on Chaos Unleashed, the last in his own series of adventure novels Chaos Reborn.

While Karpyshyn hasn’t completely ruled out writing on the Mass Effect series again, on his blog he states that “I originally came to the Austin studio many years ago to work on SWTOR and – at least for now – that’s what I’m focusing on again”.
